As i told you already in previous article, i am trying to write few articles on the blogging tips, but you don't worry excel lovers i will not forget to write few excel tips too for you. So here i am with another great topic of excel. Today we are going to discuss about Excel file or worksheet sharing option. While working on Excel, some time we think if more then one people can work on a single or same excel file or worksheet. If we will able to do this believe me its helps allot. So today We will cover this topic.

If more then one person work on any excel file there is not any way to track updates/ mistakes made by which person. Suppose that you and your colleague are working on a same file and your colleague made a mistake and refuge to accept that, what will you do? Let me tell me you do nothing because you don't have proper proof to prove him guilty. Go through this article and its guaranteed you will be not disappointed.

How To Make Shared Excel File And Allow To Edit By Multiple Users?


Please follow the all the steps care-fully.

Step 1. Open any Excel File, Click on File tab, then click Options tab. In the Excel Options Dialogue box, click Trust center, and then click the Trust Center Settings Button. In the Privacy Options category, clear the Check Box next to the option "Remove Personal Information From The File Properties On Save".  Then close the dialogue box and click OK. See Image below:-


Step 2 . Now Click on Review Tab under the menu bar, Then click on Share Workbook under the Changes area. In the Share Workbook dialogue box, click on Editing menu and then click the check box before "Allow changes by more than one user at the same time. This also allows workbook merging."

A massage box for confirmation massage "This Action will now save the workbook. Do you want to continue". Click Ok to make the changes.

Now put the file on file server or shared location and share file location with users. Now multiple user can access the file and makes changes into this at the same time. Changes will visible after saving the file.

How to track edits or updates or mistakes made by which user or colleague?

Tracking is very simple of in this file.  Do this, Click on Review Tab under the menu bar, Then click on Share Workbook under the Changes area. In the Share Workbook dialogue box click on Advanced menu and then click the Radio Button before very first option (Keep changes history for) . You can also set number of days for history tracking.  Click OK to save. Now you are all set to share and edit with multiple users.
